Chaired by Richard Trudgen, the board brings a diverse range of expertise in business, not-for-profit, and remote community development to support Hope for Health.
In addition to overseeing the organisation’s governance, financial management, and strategic direction, the board is dedicated to advancing the Hope for Health Yolŋu-led preventative health initiative on Elcho Island.

This program integrates traditional knowledge with modern education to promote health literacy, weight loss, lifestyle change, and community empowerment. The board plays an essential role in this process through its ongoing presence and support in the community.

The role of the Local Committee is to oversee the development and delivery of the Hope For Health Program model. As well as to advocate for health improvement and preventative health solutions for Arnhem Land communities based on our 10 years of experience helping Yolngu learn how to improve their health with diet and lifestyle.

The local committee members are volunteers who work closely with the Board on initiatives determined by the Board.

Some committee members also serve as board members, ensuring a strong connection between the two groups.

The committee liaises with the wider community in Elcho Island and shares the information and knowledge they gain with the Board.
